Introduction

Has anyone ever told you that internet business is a scam?

Making money online is impossible?

This were the reactions I received when I decided to attend seminar themed along those lines.

Just before this point I was hearing about online business but was in a job, quite happy with the way things were. There was no real urgency for me to explore further.

THEN, the plans I made had not quite worked out the way I imagined. A job that I was supposed to start at got delayed by several months, and suddenly I had all this time on my hands... I am not very good at sitting still.

And so, the universe intervened, and an email found its way into my inbox inviting me to the exploratory seminar about online possibilities.

My partner was very sceptical. Said I should get a real job. But did not try to stop me.

I was sceptical myself but I knew that dismissing something new just because it was unfamiliar was not a good idea.

And so, I went along.

I made a conscious choice to just listen without prejudice before making my mind up.

I went there alone, sat at the back of the room (it was a big room full of people like me) and listened quietly.

I'd make a decision after I heard EVERY speaker and after I slept on it.

I know a good thing when I see one.

The one thing that caught my eye and ear all those years ago was something called affiliate marketing.

This was the first time I heard about it

It seemed like a good place to start my online business journey that did not require me to quit my job.

In a nutshell, you just needed a product (someone else's product is fine), somewhere to sell from (a website), and someone to sell to (buyers).

Sounds simple enough, right?

Mistakes are a way to fully understand.

There was one speaker who designed a comprehensive course addressing all the possibilities in the world of online business creation and generation.

I signed up.

The course was good, very good.

However, the trainer was so experienced that he forgot how frustrating it can be to get stuck at 'technicalities'.

Silly, simple things, really, but if they don't work and you don't know how to fix them it can be very frustrating and off putting. The advice I received was ' just do this and this and this'. That was very good but did not say HOW to do just this and this and that.

So I started using the internet to find the answers to my questions.

In the process, I came across many marketing mentors. Each helped me understand more.

Learning a new skill takes a little time.

A good mentor who is always willing to answer your questions speeds thing up and elevates a lot of frustration.

The importance of the right tools.

As with any other business, an online business requires a set of effective tools to run it.
No one would expect a plumber to show up for work without his tool bag, would they?

I am sure I don't have to go into too much detail about the difference a good quality tool makes to doing the actual job.

In case of an online business,
the two most important things are a website creator and an email autoresponder.

When those work properly, it is half the battle won

SAS Affiliate and GroovePages

Yes, there are several other alternatives.

You don't have to reinvent the wheel

BUT

no one will complain about IMPROVING IT, will they?

Google was not the first search engine, yet it has become one by improving the original idea Ask Jeeves.

Apple was not an original idea, yet today it provides products with superior features.

Is GroovePages heading for the same success?
